Irving Haber received his Ph.D. from the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn in 1969. He joined the staff at the Naval Research Laboratory, where he did research in the Plasma Physics Division until 2002. He is currently a Visiting Senior Research Scientist at IREAP.

Dr. Haber's research interests have centered on the use of computer simulations to explain the complex nonlinear behavior of various plasma systems such as those that occur in intense charge particle beams, as well as fusion plasmas and the plasmas in the ionosphere.
